Running capes

Why YOU SHOULD RUN WITH A CAPE

Short answer: Because it’s fun!

Running with a cape is a simple way to increase the fun and excitement of any run. The joy it brings will make you feel lighter on your feet and encourage others to root you on while you run.

Whether you want to add a bit of flair to your first race, mix things up at your local run club, wear a signature piece to identify your run group, or simply have some extra fun on your next run, a running cape is the perfect solution.

how to RUN WITH A CAPE

Step 1: Acquire a cape

Choose a cape that matches the vibe you’re going for. Then, make sure it’s lightweight and comfortable — our run capes are made from ultralight satin. Also, be sure to select a suitable size of cape — when attached, you want the bottom hem to fall somewhere between your lower back and the back of your knees. Any longer may result in a tripping hazard.

Step 2: Wear the cape on a test run

Once you have your running cape, wear it around the house and try it out on a short test run. You want to know how it feels to wear it before you wear it to a race or another big run event.

Step 3: go running!

It’s as easy as one, two, three! Now that you’ve tested your new cape, all that’s left to do is run and feel like a hero. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run in a cape?

Absolutely! Anyone can run in a cape, especially the lightweight and comfortable capes that we design. Just make sure that your cape isn’t so long that you could trip over it!

Can you race in a cape?

Yes, nearly any community race — be it a fun run, 5k, 10k, marathon, or ultramarathon — allows the use of capes. Many encourage it!

Why would someone wear a cape while running?

To have more fun and to inspire others to join in on the excitment. A running cape can be a great way to engage the cheering crowds at races. Another great use for run capes is to unify a team by getting everyone in your group to wear the same color cape.

How do you wear a cape comfortably?

Our run capes are designed to be lightweight and comfortable. Tying the satin ribbons around your neck should not cause any discomfort. However, if the skin around your neck is sensitive, you can instead tie the ribbons around the straps of a running pack, sports bra, or reflective running vest.

What do you wear under a cape when running?

You can wear whatever you’d like — even nothing at all! Our capes are made of a lightweight satin fabric that will glide over any clothing you wear underneath and won’t rub your skin the wrong way.
